Just about killed my father. Allowed a pressure sore to develop in his elbow to the point he was febrile 38.5C, burning up, flushed, confused, had frequent & numerous falls in short time he’d been there & the elbow wound was full of pus, requiring excision & surgical drainage! Their staff dressed/undressed & attended his personal cares daily & yet NO-ONE picked it up!! Nor the two pressure injuries on his spine that developed under their lack of care! It took my 94yr old mother, a layperson, to pick it up, demand a set of obs be done & insist on transfer to hospital. They sent a 94yr old as escort at 6pm without so much as a drink or sandwich, leaving her to care for him for a further 12 hours at the hospital with no hydration/nutrition or support. This was a situation they created through non existent, negligent care. The hospital reported them to the Safeguarding committee. They responded by punishing my parents & blocking their entry to associated Nursing Home placement. Though, if that’s the standard of their care home it does not bode well for their nursing home. Not one Registered Nurse on site! Disgusting service, charge through the roof, but can’t even provide basic care!
