Pembroke Care

My team provided Bible-based activities fortnightly for the residents of this care home for over 18 months. It was clear that the residents at Pembroke Lodge are well cared for and appreciated individually by the staff. The residents have a great rapport with those taking care of them. We witnessed them being treated with dignity and great attention. We have had nothing but professional and friendly interactions with the staff and management who catered for our visits and were on hand when we attended, notably the Care Manager, Director and Activities Coordinator.

The surroundings were always clean, the residents were always well-kept and presentable, and staff engaged in regular conversation with each resident – not something we see in all care homes.

There was always evidence on the noticeboard of other activities the residents engaged in, including photographs and artwork, plus puzzles and crafting items in the communal area. The Activities Coordinator is also an accomplished baker, who would help mark every occasion and milestone with a personalised cake and celebration.

The residents were regularly prompted to enjoy a light snack and drink while we attended, with their fluid intake seemingly monitored, and the chef was always busy preparing a hot midday meal during the time of our visits.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visits – the good-natured, cheerful, hospitable residents and the staff we got to know well. Certainly a place where an older loved one would be well cared for.

Should our circumstances allow, my team would happily resume our visits to this care home.
