Friendship & Sons Funeral Directors

After instructing Friendship & Sons in Barnstaple in September 2025 to care for our loved one we had a meeting at home to discuss funeral plans. The representative arrived holding a folder which had our loved ones’ name on a sticky label over another persons name, which I could clearly read. Following this we were given a leaflet of prices and advised to ignore the pen marks inside as it was from a previous customer! We were shocked and distraught so immediately instructed another undertaker to take over. We initially chose Friendship & Sons after they did another funeral for us 6 years prior. I had no complaints at the time but as this was the first funeral I had experience of I overlooked the fact they demanded payment prior to the funeral. Literally a few days before stating it couldn’t go ahead until all payment was received. Having had experience with a good undertaker I realise now how awful and disrespectful Friendship & Sons are. It left me feeling I had not done my best for two precious family members. It’s so important to get it right as this has had an impact on our familys’ grieving process.

Treat staff horrendously. Very inept service .
