Parking Issues
When having to visit relatives placed in care, which is an extremely stressful and fragile time. You do not need constraints around parking issues. This home has put in place a parking company who issues fines and do not send you notification until 3/4 months later. Which then comes as threatening demands.
Where in “care” does this fall.
Be very aware when visiting a relative to place your vehicle details into the screen because even on fragile stressful situations they are only interested in £££££ no extended due care and concern for family and friends it’s just the £££££

EMA Patient Transport were at this lovely care home, where we were transferring a resident to another care home using EMA’s care home transport services. The staff here were superb and the home is on a great location.

Our mother has been living at Riverview Tilehurst for more than six months. in fairness we were sceptical as it did have average reviews. We are self funding which is why we looked at the Hollies of Burghfield and Signature in Burghfield, much more expensive. What is most important question you need to ask all homes, what happens when self funding dries up, in fairness, the Hollies gave a direct answer, if we can find a spare box room, we may keep her, but you would be responsible for managing payments from the local authorities. Signature of Caversham made it very clear they did not want state funded persons. With Riverview and two other care home associated with Reading Borough council which did not suit us, all will accept the state funding when my mothers money runs out which is so important. We are so fortunate to have chosen Riverview. really friendly carers, nurses and management. Mum is now happy there and considers it here home. At lunch times we are offered if we want to stay and eat with her, and always made us welcome. Please do not listen to those who say a friends of a friend said such and such. Thank you to all the carers, staff and management which are looking after our mum, we are so fortunate placing her at Riverview Tilehurst, Reading

If I could put 0 stars, I would. Sending your relative here is like sentencing them to death. The way my grandmother deteriorated in the 11 months she was here was so drastic I can’t even put it into words. There is no element of “care” in this care home. The staff are so overrun and busy doing admin that they are unable to operate in a way that is effective and in the residents best interest. My gran was always left in soiled pads with no call bell near her to get assistance. The soiled pads got so bad she was admitted to hospital into intensive care due to a UTI that turned sepsis that they didn’t even know about! As a family we used to buy our own urine test strips to check her urine! Please, do not put your relative here, it will be the most heart breaking journey you embark upon. I was so glad to get my grandmother out of there and into a place where she is clean, well kept and actually spoken to! Residents should not be lonely in a care home.

Contrary to the negative reviews I have read I have to say that in the 7 months my good friend Josephine was on Cherry Blossom she was shown only the kindest care and attention and I had no concerns at all. During lockdown I was always kept informed particularly by Mandy who organises activities. Josephine was happy and content at River View and my daughter Hannah and I and all Josephine’s many friends are very grateful for the support we received. Dorothy Blick
