From the moment walk in and greeted by staff at Austen House I know that this is a very happy and welcoming Nursing Home.

Would not recommend. Do your homework looks lovely but felt very let down with care offered. No compassion very business led and very expensive when compared to other care homes offering like to like support. Food awful unable to offer a bread roll or jacket potato. Advised we could bring in if required.

My mum has been here nearly 5 years now, she is very happy with her surroundings, although she has a failing memory, she feels comfortable with her situation.
The staff are attentive, hard working and deserve all the praise they get.
The building is maintained in pretty good condition, with obvious ongoing maintenance.
The food is wonderful, with a good range of food and a varied selection of meals. The fresh cake in reception is always very tempting and is very tasty.
Visitors are always warmly welcomed at any time.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a loved one to be cared for.

We ran out of hymnbooks!! People had to share!
As other commitments allow, I join a group of people (who attend a little church in Hurst) to sing some hymns and pass on a few words as though we were together in a church service. It is a few months since I was able to be at the group but was more than pleasantly surprised to see a packed room at 1350 when we were scheduled to begin at 1400. Someone or ones had been busy getting the residents to the room and that in good time. Many thanks. Tremendous participation in the singing. A high level of attention as well. Again many thanks to the staff.
