From the moment I walked into Sandfields, it genuinely felt like home.
I was welcomed warmly by reception, despite them not knowing who I was, and that tone carried throughout my visit. Staff across the home were consistently friendly, polite, and approachable—even the chef greeted me in passing, which says a lot about the culture.
The home itself is beautifully maintained—clean, fresh, and thoughtfully presented without feeling clinical. I visited around lunchtime and was kindly offered a meal, which looked fantastic, though I couldn’t stay long enough to enjoy it.
What stood out most was the quality of care and connection. The activities team clearly understand their residents and what works for them, and the manager is genuinely present and engaged. He greeted residents by their first names and interacted with them in a way that showed real familiarity and care—not just oversight, but connection.
The bedrooms are lovely—fresh, modern, and comfortable—and the bistro area is a real highlight, with fresh baked goods adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
Most importantly, the residents appeared relaxed, content, and at ease. During a Dementia Action Alliance meeting I attended, a group of over 15 people were warmly welcomed and very well looked after.
There’s a truly homely feel to Sandfields—genuine, unpretentious, and caring. It’s a place where people are clearly known, valued, and supported.

My aunt was a resident here while her house was being repaired and I can honestly say she had the loveliest time. I’ve not seen her smile that much in a long time. When she returned home we were given a wonderful keepsake of pictures and memories of her time here, which I thought was such a special touch She has only been home for a couple of months and already talking about her next ” holiday ” to Sandfields.

I just want to say Thank you, My mum recently attended a Love to Move class with you and I’ve never seen her smile so much when exercising. It’s fantastic. If you haven’t been to the exercise class before , you really must, it’s wonderful.

Sandfields is a warm and welcoming place. The staff are friendly, it’s always very clean and well kept. The food is fabulous- we really enjoy the cakes in the cafe! There is a broad and inclusive range of activities provided by a lovely lifestyle team. I have recommended Sandfields for many years now (as I’m in the sector) and it consistently stands out for me.

In September 2025, four years into her dementia journey, my 79-year-old wife had to go into a Care Home as a permanent resident. Unfortunately, we then had awful experiences with the local Charity owned Home so, with help from family and friends, I was especially careful to scrutinise a better alternative. We chose Sandfields after several exploratory visits and informative meetings with senior staff. When she moved into Sandfields in January 2026, we were introduced to team leaders and everything was done very professionally.
Two months later I’m very pleased with my wife’s care at Sandfields. Every aspect of the service provided deserves considerable praise, but three things currently stand out for me; the jolly comfortable home atmosphere, excellent communication by the staff and the innovative Activities timetable.
In my view, Sandfields Care Home deserves to have its Jan 2023 CQC “Good” rating changed to “Outstanding”.
