I quickly progressed to a senior position with in the team and when the direction of my life changed I was able to join the wonderful office team firstly as as a coordinator progressing to a Deputy Carer Manager position in the Summer of 2025. Yesterday I met with Liz & Adriana at their offices in Farnham, for the Dementia Experience Day. We chatted about the various experiences I have with my 94 year old Mum, who has dementia. Adriana, who is their Dementia Lead, was extremely knowledgeable and her suggestions very helpful.
I was given a chance to experience what living with the condition can feel like. I had to wear a heavy chest plate, weights on my wrists and ankles, along with blurred specs and gloves. I was then asked to complete a series of tasks and it clearly became exhausting, even though I was only wearing these for a few minutes!
My Mum doesn’t live in Surrey but if she did, I would not hesitate to consider contacting Right at Home to help with her care.
I would like to thank you all for helping me to understand more of what may be going on in my Mum’s head and the way she may be feeling.

We contacted Right at Home GF to get some help for my elderly parents. Dad needs help in the mornings and, whilst Mum normally manages, she’s had some health issues of her own. We felt a few hours help a week would give her a break and enable her to be better able to manage on the other days. Whilst they could have probably coped without the extra help, we wanted to be ahead of the curve, getting Mum and Dad used to having people around and making sure we had help in place for when they really needed it.
The whole process was painless, from meeting Lynsey at the initial assessment, to setting up the first week’s care. We were just in the nick of time, as the week that they started, Mum had to go into hospital and the wonderful Caz from R@H appeared to save the day! She was a game-changer, bringing care, kindness, humour and professionalism to Dad’s mornings – she’s been a ray of sunshine and any doubts that he had at the start evaporated on Day 1. We’ve since increased the hours they are doing and Caz and Christine are now an indispensable part of their lives, giving Mum a break, covering for when she’s been in hospital and genuinely bringing energy and happiness to the start of their day. Thank you all so much!
