    Very happy care home

I visited this small care home, and it was a happy place.

My parents came down to Cheltenham to live at Queensbridge House over 3 years ago. I spent quite some time deciding on which home would suit them, and this one “felt right” every time I dropped in to find out more. Since they moved in, I have been consistently pleased with the care, love and attention my parents have received. Being a smallish home, the atmosphere feels like a family.

The carers, activities co-ordinators, cleaners, handy people, hairdressers, volunteers, manager, PA, etc, are all hugely kind and very supportive of the residents. Indeed, they understand dementia very well. I visit frequently, and at varying times of the day, and can see clearly that the staff have the best interests of the residents at heart.

I have been recommending this place to anyone who cares to listen and many others have responded that they, too, have had (or heard of) positive experiences of it.

Mum moved into Queensbridge 15 months ago- I didn’t want her to go into care, but in the end it wasn’t about what I wanted- it was about what was best for her. I can’t speak highly enough about the home, the staff are dedicated, caring and compassionate. The home is relatively small in terms of numbers of residents, so the high staff:resident ratio allows individual care and responsiveness to needs. The care is intelligent and well thought out. I am not saying there are never problems, but there is an attitude and desire for continuous improvement, that allows sensible discussion over any issues that arise, although in my experience they are rare. Mum is happy there and receives the love and attention she deserves, as well as the expertise in care she needs. I visit regularly and whatever ever time or day it is, I am always welcomed- even by some of the other residents. There is a program of activities to stimulate and entertain the residents, and thought is given to how those (like Mum) who are less able, can be included and enjoy the experience.
Reviews are difficult to write, as they are based on very personal experiences, but don’t just read and believe my view- or anyone else’s for that matter- go and see for yourself, you don’t need to make an appointment, I didn’t, and I’m sure you will be pleased with what you find.
