It has taken me some time to be able to write this review following my mums passing but in a very short summary I would note it is a business first and foremost.
I don’t have an issue against the care staff, they do their best however there are not enough present – one day I had to fetch them to lift and move another resident from the floor but in order for two people to attend I then had to sit with and watch the remainder of the residents – thankfully nothing happened but for the money paid to me this was not acceptable.
My issue is actually with the management in situ at the home. This first started when I was concerned with the level of weight my mum was gaining being over fed when she already had high cholesterol. I raised this with the then manager Charlie who advised (verbatim) – ‘the dementia will kill her before the cholesterol does’ which from a customer service perspective set the tone thereafter. As a result of the weight gain her rings were then cut off without my permission so heirlooms were damaged. On another occasion she ran out of the NHS supplied pull ups so I purchased others as the pads provided were not adequate and causing regular leaking and distressed outfit changes. She went through 80 of these without any further supply until I escalated as a complaint.
As she also wore glasses, I became annoyed when she was missing these for a week, she was borderline blind so this posed a very high tripping/ fall hazard which again was not addressed and resolved until I escalated.
When funds were running low – at £8K a month this is inevitable for anyone, they would not even have a discussion with me to see if there was any way to manage as a compromise to avoid the distress to my mum.
The final straw for me was when my mum was discharged from hospital on end of life care. I wanted her to go back to the home for familiar surroundings and faces rather than an hospice, but she was placed in a different room on a different floor, allegedly due to the oxygen machine required however before she was even off of the stretcher, the deputy manager Kathleen was asking me if I had the key to her bedside locker as they had someone moving in later that day – when attending the room his belongings had already been moved in.
I then spent 12 hours a day sat on the floor for the next two and a half weeks which consisted of various discussions with the home about being fed whilst I was there. It was agreed as I was paying for food my mum could not consume that I could have it (I wouldn’t have been fed otherwise), however this was hit and miss each day, sometimes I was forgotten or once the staff had eaten the meal I had been allocated – my main issue was the lack of consistency as I didn’t know when to come with food and when I would then be fed. As she was also sick towards the end, I had no help when I was calling out for assistance/ pressing the alarm and because she could not move from lying on her back, when she was sick after being seen to by staff this went into all her oxygen tubes which were not changed and just left until I had to take it upon myself to do so. If you thought more care and consideration would be provided in end of life care this definitely wasn’t the case, she still deserved dignity.
Overall as previous reviews state, aesthetically this is a lovely looking home and sounds great on paper however in experience, the care element is no different to what is received elsewhere and in hindsight I would rather have utilised what would have been my inheritance – £120k – somewhere else

A beautifully presented home and perfect for a person with good health. However, it’s a totally different story if your loved one has serious health issues …….. I initially rated this home as 5 stars, but when my poor Mother became seriously ill after just 2 days, I realised that appropriate care was not in place for her needs, despite being verbally assured that it was. I was advised by the Deputy Manager that Head Office had authorised a full refund for her short stay, but it turned out that the Finance Department had other ideas and this has not been forthcoming ………. shocking for a care and nursing home rated as outstanding.

What can I say, words are not enough to express how wonderful this care home is. From the moment we stepped in, throughout our journey and to the end the staff have been outstanding. The staff make you feel so welcome, as a relative it felt like my home too. The nursing care is more than you could ask for and unfortunately our experience included end of life care which was made so much easier by their love, support and medical expertise. I would like to say the biggest thank you to Anisha Grange for making the last 4 months of my father’s life the best it could have been and for all your care, hospitality and professionalism. I am so glad we found such a wonderful care home x

Cannot fault the fantastic care mum continues to receive at Anisha Grange. All the staff go above and beyond to ensure that mum is cared for in a respectful and very caring way. So much though and effort is put in to ensuring that the residents or their families benefit from such a warm and welcoming environment.

I cannot fault the care at Anisha Grange, with all staff showing respect, kindness and friendliness not only to my mum, but also to all residents, visitors, relatives etc. The food always looks delicious and a suitable alternative is always provided if mum doesn’t fancy what’s on the menu. The home is clean and wholesome-smelling! There are lots of activities on offer for those who want to participate. The staff gently urge residents to try something, but respect their choices. It gives us peace of mind knowing that mum is safe, comfortable, well-fed and contented.
