Boscombe Down Recreation Club

Took my id gave it to random customers to date check because “didn’t have glasses” then was rude to myself and my party threatening to kick us out if we didn’t buy anything in good time. I understand a barely half full pub can be stressful but come on have some decency!!! Will not be visiting again.

We have booked a room for my sons christening 3 months in advance. Paid in full and the lady who booked us in has also added a note that we will be coming earlier to decorate, and that it was absolutely fine. We turned up for 10am as promised was fine, but the owner didn’t actually get in until 10:30/40 ish. No apology from her neither. I’ve tried ringing the venue and the Facebook page with no answer. As we were so tight on timing, we weren’t able to finish decorating the room as we had to go straight to the church from there. I have messaged when it would be convenient for me to get my deposit back, but didn’t yet get an answer (it’s been 3 weeks). I also sent messages confirming that we were coming for 10am , and I’ve sent messages regarding how many tables there is as wanted to get table cloths, for nice pictures instead of having them plain. I also had no answer. Upon booking we weren’t offered see the room, so didn’t have a rough idea of what it needed until the day of the christening.

Apart from that , the room was very spacious , we had access to the bar and toilets no problem. The staff also lent us some salt and pepper, which I thought was nice, plus we cleaned up after ourselves, so used their brush and dustpan. We were allowed to bring our speaker in and connect to wifi for music, which again was very nice to be able to use.
My son is crawling and was wearing light colours , unfortunately the floors weren’t too clean and left some marks on the clothes that I can’t get washed off.
My very honest reviews is 3.5/5 , due to lack of communication and all issues I’ve mentioned, plus still not having a response about the deposit.
I think I will just go over without announcing myself, since not getting a reply back.

I have been here twice now, once for a live band and once for a funeral. The staff are friendly, the drinks are cheap. I visit friends in Amesbury every month, they live a stones throw from the club, so I think I habe found my out of town regular. The first time I went there was a live band and it was awesome. Great place to have a pint and a laugh with your mates, and kids are welcome until 9.
