My son attended the Maidenhead office today (23/02/2026) to request information and contact details for local solicitors. He was told, through the door, that no one could assist him because they were short-staffed and that he would need to call the number listed online. He was not invited in or offered any further help.
He returned to the car, where I was on the phone with his girlfriend. She decided to go in herself to see what response she would receive. As she approached the office, another lady also stated she was going in to seek advice.
They were both greeted by the exact same staff member my son had spoken to. This time, however, they were invited inside and seated in the waiting area. My son’s girlfriend was then provided with the names and contact details of solicitors — the very same information my son had requested and was denied only minutes earlier.
There is no reasonable explanation for this difference in treatment. The only clear distinction is that my son is Black and his girlfriend is white. This was racial profiling and discriminatory behaviour absolutely disgraceful.
No star rating was appropriate for this experience; however, the system would not allow me to post without selecting one.

Helpful staff able to offer impartial advice, suggestions, and clarifications to help you out.
The only problems are the length of time you have to wait to talk to them through the phone and that you need to book an appointment.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have someone dealing with a case of mines for 3 weeks, it seems like no action has been taken to start the process of resolving this. Last week John didnt call me as I didnt send across the requested information. I have sent the information across last week and expected a call today and no one has called me. I also emailed a few times and even then no reply!!! Service is absolutely shocking every time you try to get onto their phone lines there is always a long wait.

I am extremely disappointed as not professional people work here. The telephones was extremely kind but useless. She was keep saying we are a volunteers and we don’t have experts working here every day. They could give me an appointment in 2 weeks time which wasn’t any good for me. I wanted to speak to the supervisor, I found her extremely loud and rude. She wasn’t even interested to listen as she said she was very busy.
Don’t bother to waste your time. They messed up my life as well as court case. Very unreliable and useless
