Specsavers Opticians and Audiologists – Tring

You can grab a reasonably priced pair of glasses if you ignore what they tell you. It was a good experience until I found a pair of glasses and was sat down to work out the price. My £100 pair with an extra free had suddenly became £255! I was surprised. Turns out my Sphere of +1.50 is strong (it isn’t) and I need thing lenses with anti-glare. Oh, well “I don’t like anti-glare coatings” I say. “It goes through the lenses” the assistant tells me. I clarified, she confirmed. “it goes through the lens”. So, that’s two lies. I didn’t need a thin lenses, I didn’t want anti-glare so I got my two pairs of rather lovely glasses for £100 but damn, did they try hard to ensure I didn’t…. update. It took two attempts to get the lenses right. I asked for and agreed intermediate. I got reading, then reading a bit further away, then I got my glasses – only one of two pairs. Took well over a month, nearly 2. Dont be fooled by the loss leader eye tests. I will never use Specsavers again.

I managed to get an urgent eye health appt on the day. This examination is not covered under the NHS but, in my opinion, is extremely good value at £30. I am very satisfied with the care I was given. I had pressure tests, retinal scans and photos on both eyes before, and one hour after the dilating drops were applied. I had field tests done too. The optometrist did a thorough examination of the back of my eye. Each step of the examination was explained clearly to me. The results were shown to me on the screen and the diagnosis was explained to me. I was advised against exercising for 4-6 weeks to avoid a serious complication from my condition. All the staff were professional, helpful and friendly. The store was bright, clean and well laid out. I would recommend Tring Specsavers without hesitation.
