An entertaining, informative and enlightening show from Peter Bleksley on Friday. The staff were all very helpful, professional and patient. But the reason for only three stars is unfortunately the seats and the seating. Money is tight, yes. But the powers that be, at county Hall or the borough council or whoever controls the budget. Please for sake of our backsides and aching backs, invest in some better seats.

This is a very useful theatre space, much used for performances of all kinds from ballet to pantomimes and tribute acts. It is not the most refined venue, a little rough and ready, and redolent of make do and mend, but it serves its basic purpose well. The front part of the auditorium is flat with a raked area to the rear so choose your seat carefully. Tye front row is fairly close to the stage. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, sometimes dressing to match rhe show.

We went to see the Crown Ballet performance of The Nutcracker and it was brilliant. The seating was comfortable, the view was perfect (back row of the tiered seating) and the food, drinks, ice cream and snacks were all reasonably priced.
The only annoyance was extra fees added to the ticket price – there was a £2.70 commission cost per ticket and then an additional £3.40 booking fee added to the total cost!

We had never visited this venue for a music event and yesterday’s night we had tickets for Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah oratorio.
I enjoyed the show as the voices and orchestration was excellent, but I have removed a star due to the excessive heat that we experienced. To the point that one of the members of the chorus fainted.
I do encourage the managers to assess this issue as we were literally roasting at the balcony seats.
Other than that the shortest three hours in my life 😉.
