Inspired exhibition of women’s roles during the time of Jane Austin cleverly using quotes from her books. Fascinating time line of Basingstoke decline as an historic town ironically held in one of the nicest buildings in the town. Would be nice see some more and perhaps better paintings of Hampshire in the gallery. Lovely cafe and shop with fascinating books and items. Don’t forget to donate as this marvellous place is free.

It is a very pretty museum, you have a lot too see. I was really impressed. There is a nice coffeeshop, the staff are really pleasant and helpful. Not far away from the shopping centre, around the museum, plenty of restaurants. Free entry, but donation are welcome.
Definitely recommend and I would come back.

Great place to go and look at the history of Basingstoke, the sainsbury art gallery was holding an exhibition of Ian Kirkpatrick and his 2d and 3d art pieces. Worth a look, there is also a nice cafe situated at the back of the art gallery, a nice fresh look and very welcome. The gallery and museum was free on entry but donations are welcome. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and full of knowledge.

Very nice place, in walking distance from train station/shopping mall with parking and plenty of restaurants. Museum itself may appear small, yet it manages to use little space quite well. There are several exhibitions, or so it was the case during my visit today, three to be precise. Staff is very friendly and they do run little café for convenient snacks break. Free entry is just cherry on top.
