Barnardo’s

It’s a really well-organized shop, and the manager is lovely, but unfortunately, a couple of the staff members aren’t very friendly or helpful to customers. I’ve donated several things to help the cause, but every time I go there, I feel like they’re doing me a favor. I will never go back to that store.

I have tried to drop off some donations this evening, 15 minutes prior to closing, and the lady shut the door in my face and pointed to the closed sign. This is the third time that I have gone out of my way to drop off donations to Barnardos Rooksdown to find them closed before the advertised time of 17:00 (on the two previous occasions I had called ahead to check that they would be open at 16:45 and was assured that they would be). I called the lady from outside the shop who told me that they were no longer taking donations today and to come back tomorrow. I find this attitude incredibly frustrating (who knows if they would be open until 17:00 tomorrow when I return) and common courtesy would have been to open the door and speak to me rather than mouthing at me through the door, knowing full well that I didn’t know what she was saying, in the hopes that I would leave. I think that Barnardos should change their opening hours to reflect those which they actually work, so that people do not waste their time.

The two ladies working in there are rude. There is one lady in particular that seems to have a problem every time I go in. She must have a problem with babies and buggies inside of the shop because it seems to be a problem every time we are there. In the last two ocasions she had plenty of space to pass and she rolled her eyes and said ‘’I guess I have to go around’’ without even asking if I could move the buggy (even if she had plenty of space to walk). And the second ocasion she said I should be aware that are items that can be dangerous when we are passing with buggy inside of the shop. But the way she talks it’s so rude and sarcastic. And the other lady I was trying to give a donation and she said ‘’well we have enough stuff’’. Not even a thank you or a pop in in a few weeks, nothing! It is a shame people like that are representing a charity! And it seems a nice charity shop but the only professional and kind person there is the young gentleman that always has a smile and he is always polite!
