My mother lived at this care home for 19 years and, for much of that time, she was happy, well cared for, and treated with dignity. Unfortunately, since the home was sold to new owners in 2024, there has been a noticeable decline in standards.
The cleanliness of the home has deteriorated, the quality and variety of the food appears to have reduced, and there has been a significant decline in both staffing levels and the overall standard of care provided to residents.
Most distressingly, my mother sustained injuries that, in my opinion, should never have occurred had appropriate care and supervision been in place. This caused considerable concern and undermined our confidence in the home’s ability to keep residents safe.
I was also deeply concerned by incidents involving other residents. During my visits, I became aware of residents experiencing falls and serious injuries, raising questions about whether there were sufficient staff and appropriate supervision in place. There were also a number of resident deaths during this period which caused concern among families other staff members and residents alike, particularly given the apparent decline in standards throughout the home.
As a result of these concerns, we made the difficult decision to move my mother from the care home. After 19 years as a resident, this was not a decision that was taken lightly, but we no longer felt confident that she was receiving the standard of care she deserved.
It is deeply disappointing to see such a decline in a home that once provided a good standard of care and where my mother spent many years happily living. Based on our experience, I would urge families to carefully consider all options and thoroughly assess the current standards of care before placing a loved one here.

Visited this home recently with my daughter as we are considering moving my dad closer to Cheltenham.
It’s small but very homely with a wonderful garden at the rear. Moiz, the new owner, has a real vision for the home and has already instigated repairs and general decoration to spruce the place up.
I was impressed with him and the staff all seemed lovely.
Had a lovely cozy feel and I think my dad would be happy there.

I recently visited this care home and was warmly welcomed by Moiz and Kelly. It’s clear that the staff here are not only efficient and hands-on but also genuinely caring and dedicated. The residents seemed happy and engaged—some even wanted to dance with Moiz!

Kelly was an absolute pleasure to interact with. I noticed several visitors stopping by to see their loved ones, many of whom went straight to Kelly for a friendly chat, which was lovely to witness. I also had the chance to meet the chef, who was incredibly friendly and actively involved in supporting the residents.

Overall, a truly positive and heartwarming experience!

I just delivered a first aid training session at this care home, and I must say, it was a lovely experience. The staff members all got on so well and created a warm and inviting atmosphere that truly felt like home. It was so nice to witness the genuine care and love they showed towards the residents. This is definitely a place where residents are not just looked after but cared for like family.

Dalkeith has been my father’s home for over 20 years – he is now 99 and blind but still enjoys life. I have been delighted with the high standard of quality care he receives but, more than that, the kindness and compassion of the staff who are so thoughtful and patient. His long life and health are a result of the way he has been so well looked after. This gives me reassurance as I live 350 miles away. I talk with my dad most days and visit with his grandchildren but his happiness and well-being are dependent on the wonderful staff at his home.
Recently, I spoke to the new owner who was friendly, professional and supportive. I manage my dad’s affairs online as I have power of attorney hut I had an issue which the new owner resolved immediately giving me peace of mind.
I have nothing but praise for the dedicated staff and effective management of Dalkeith which have given my dad such a happy and fulfilled life for so many years.
